Numerous violations of electoral law were observed during the presidential runoff, but they cannot affect the final outcome, the Committee of Voters of Ukraine has said, the 5 Kanal TV channel reported today.

The Ukrainian presidential election runoff is valid and the results will be announced in line with the law, the head of the Central Electoral Commission, Volodymyr Shapoval, said at a press conference in Kyiv today. "The runoff is valid," he said.

 Party of Regions leader and presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovych, has described his election rival Yulia Tymoshenko as a strong opponent, but advised her to admit defeat and to leave the post of prime minister.

 It is too early to come to conclusions on the outcome of the presidential runoff on February 7, the head of Yulia Tymoshenko’s election headquarters, Oleksandr Turchynov, has said.

 Six exit polls have shown that Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych is ahead of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in today’s Ukrainian presidential election runoff. 

 The Central Electoral Commission broke the law on the presidential election when it issued an instruction this morning that two members of a polling-station commission are enough to conduct voting at home, First Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchynov, the head of presidential candidate Yuliya Tymoshenko's election headquarters, has said.

 The presidential runoff is proceeding without blatant violations of public order. "The second round got under way smoothly, without blatant violations of public order," Volodymyr Mayevskiy, the head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's public safety department, told a news conference in Kyiv today.
