Experts at the Laboratory of Legislative Initiatives have prepared an analytical review document entitled “The institution of the veto: overseas experience, national legislation and practice, proposals”.

 

The research paper outlines the history of the development of the veto, describes foreign and Ukrainian practice in this field and sets out proposals on improving the legal regulation of the institution of the veto in the future. The research paper also includes a review of Ukrainian laws vetoed by the president of Ukraine starting from 2005.

 

The research was carried out with assistance provided by the Branch for Democracy and Government of the USAID Regional Mission to Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus in accordance with the terms of grant №121-А-00-03-00008-00 (Parliamentary Development Project II: Legislative Policy Development Program for Ukraine).
